Hoole residents and local councillors have helped to initiate a programme of improvements at Narrows Community Park.
Enhancements to the entrance to the park including the repainting of the railings, repairing of cobbles, installation of a new litter bin and the clearing of footpaths, have already been undertaken by Cheshire West and Chester Council - with more plans in the pipeline.
The improvements follow a meeting held between residents, local councillors, staff from Cheshire West and Chester Council and representatives from Cheshire Police at Hoole Community Centre looking at how to improve the green space for local people.
Local Councillor, Cllr Adrian Walmsley (pictured), said: “Really well done to everyone who has been involved in this project - a great example of the authority working with the community on an individual needs basis.”
Residents from the local area are keen to remain involved in the park and will take part in a Community Litter Picking day planned for Wednesday, 25 August, 6pm until 8pm.
Plans are also being progressed to install a new sign at the park, involving local school children in the design process in autumn 2010.
Local Councillor, Cllr John Ebo, said: “An excellent result which can only be added to by the future plans for the Park. I am delighted to see that local residents are keen to continue to work with the council on a range of improvements including volunteering to pick litter.”
