Councillor Brian Crowe has endorsed local campaigner Simon Eardley to replace him as Councillor in the ward. Councillor Crowe's term of office comes to an end in May 2019.
Brian said:
"After nearly thirty years as a ward councillor, I have taken the decision not to seek re-election at the local elections next May. It has been a huge privilege to represent the fantastic villages that make up this community and to do my best on local and borough wide issues as they have arisen over the years. To have been elected as The Lord Mayor of the City of Chester in 2002 was such a great honour but then to have been elected as Chairman of the new Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority in 2008 was such an enormous privilege as well.
"I am so very grateful for the support and help you have all given me over the years, without which frankly I would never have been able to cope.
"I’m not leaving the scene just yet! I’ll continue to work hard for Saughall and Mollington ward in the remaining months of my term and be an active member of the local community. But in the meantime, local Conservatives have selected a new candidate for this area. I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce Simon Eardley to you and give him my endorsement.
"I’ve known Simon for a number of years. He’s a Cheshire lad through and through and has a strong attachment to rural areas such as this, having been brought up on a small dairy farm. I feel confident that he’ll do a good job on your behalf and won’t be afraid to tell him so if he doesn’t!
"You may be aware that the current Saughall and Mollington ward will be slightly adjusted following a recent boundary review. This means the village of Puddington and additional residents in the Woodbank and Shotwick areas will join the ward. I know Simon looks forward to getting to know as many residents, members of parish councils and community groups as possible in the coming weeks and I look forward to having the opportunity to introduce him to you."
