Handbridge Park Councillors Razia Daniels and Neil Sullivan have presented local young readers with their "Mischief Makers" Summer Reading Challenge awards at a ceremony at Lache Library.
The annual ceremony is one of the most popular events held every year where children who have participated in the summer reading challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal.
The two Councillors used some of their local members' budget to fund the certificates and medals, recognising the achievement of the young readers over the summer and encouraging more people to take part in the programme.
This years theme was Mischief Makers and featured characters from the Beano including Dennis the Menace.
Cllr Razia Daniels said:
"We were delighted to support the event which took place at Lache Library. It was just wonderful to see so many children had taken part and said that they really enjoyed the reading challenge."
Cllr Neil Sullivan added:
"This annual challenge enthuses our local children to keep reading in the Summer holidays. As local Councillors, we're proud to support it."
