Free After 3pm parking abolished by Labour
Despite protests from businesses and residents, the Labour run council have abolished the popular ‘Free After 3pm’ parking scheme in Chester.
The plans remain controversial.
Trinity Street car park (under the Crowne Plaza), for example, has recently been criticised for charging more money than before for less time parking. Labour spent £millions on their revenue-raising ‘parking’ strategy but the effects are only being felt in the pockets of local residents!
Action taken on grass cutting!
It has been disappointing to see the poor state of many verges and other areas across the ward in recent months.
In May, for example, Cllr Brian Crowe insisted the CWaC team cut the grass at Saughall Hey which according to some residents was at its longest for 50 years! This neglect is unacceptable when we know neighbouring ‘urban’ wards have had their grass cut on multiple occasions!
No excuse for pot-holes
Although we’ve been enjoying some fantastic summer weather in recent weeks, the annual pot-hole problems on local roads following the winter months have been frustrating for many road users.
There’s no excuse for pot-holes not to be repaired though, as CWaC received nearly £1million extra from the Conservative Government to deal with issues across the borough. If you know of any problems that still need attention, please let Brian or Simon Eardley know.
