Upton Conservatives spent 3 hours today making a start on enhancing Lodge Gardens with some intensive shrub and weed clearance.
Local Conservatives are committed to making Chester an even better place to live, work and raise a family. That's why, as well as campaigning on issues that matter to our city - including keeping Free After 3 parking - and speaking up for local residents in the Council Chamber, Conservative volunteers also roll up their sleeves to make a positive difference to our area.
Councillor Jill Houlbrook, the Conservative Councillor for Upton who led the team, said:
"Mindful of wildlife needing to stock up for winter we took care not to cut back the berry bearing shrubs and trees which can wait until later in the year.
"We enjoyed the sunshine and the company of local residents who made a very welcome contribution to the clearance.
"We will be working in the gardens again in late October and we will be planting daffodils to enhance the grounds. I've also asked the CWaC tree officer to check the trees before winter.
"We hope you all enjoy the gardens."
