There are several Public Rights of Ways (PROW) in Upton and Jill has been encouraging the CWaC team to open them up. Now Jill would like to thank our PROW officer, Richard for the following information and for all his work and attention to the PROW on Upton Lane.
He emailed me this
'I’m writing to confirm that I returned to the Footpath running between Demage Lane and Upton Lane earlier this morning and completed the strimming. Whilst there I noted that our contractors have completed the installation of the Fingerposts at either end. I’ve attached photos of the completed strimming and fingerposts for information.
Unfortunately, having now opened up the Footpath, it is apparent that there is some significant overgrowth from the boundaries of the adjacent properties. The Footpath is passable after the strimming I undertook this morning, but this overgrowth does reduce the useable width of the Footpath considerably in places (more so the Demage Lane end). I’ll contact the various properties affected by this and ask them to cut the overgrowth back. I’ll try and get something out to them as soon as I can.'
Those in Upton will remember from Jill's summer communication 'Upton Matters' that highlighted the need for the clearing of PROWs and how these inaccessible and overgrown PROWs needed addressing. It's fantastic that significant process is beginning to take shape!
